While we are in here updating this thing....we have a strategy question: Spades is Trump. I have in my hand: AH TH 9S I'm third to go. The Trick So Far Is: JD 9D I know that JS JC AS KS QS have already been played. I do NOT KNOW if the TS is still in play or not. (It hasn't been part of any trick so far, but may not have been dealt) It could be that the player who just went before me had the TS, but also had diamonds and had to play 9D. It could be that the player after me has the TS, and will play it. It could be that the TS was not dealt this hand. It could be that the player after me WILL play the TS, in which case, I am guaranteed to win the trick when I finally do play the 9S. It could be that nobody has the TS, and I'm ALREADY destined to win whatever trick I play it on. Do I play the 9S or the TH? In a nutshell, I have two rules: If I know I can take the trick, play my best card. If I know that I cannot possibly take the trick, play my worst card. I need a third rule: If I am NOT SURE if I can possibly take the trick play: A) My Best Card? B) My Worst Card? |
